The EGM (Extraordinary General Meeting) held on Sunday (July 25) voted by 68 votes to two to allow the Trustees to agree the sale of our freehold and leasehold to Jackson’s Row Developments Ltd. The meeting was a lively one in a full but not crowded Alexander Levy Hall, with most members expressing excitement for our future.

Gary Neville, who attended remotely, said on behalf of the developers of the site, that the first phase, the commercial development around the old Bootle Street Police HQ had already started but he hoped that Phase 2, the hotel and residential complex which includes our synagogue land, would commence well before the completion of Phase 1.

Naomi Ward, our Synagogue Chair, said after the meeting: “We look forward to many more conversations as we plan to move to a new, sustainable location, fit for generations of Reform Judaism in Manchester. Our hearty thanks go out to the development team, so strongly led by Danny Savage and all those who helped make Sunday’s gathering, in such interesting times, safe and successful“.
