The executives of Manchester Reform and Sha’arei Shalom in North Manchester have begun exploring a possible merger. A union would seek to further promote the current dynamic Manchester Jewish community, and continue to liaise closely with our sister congregation, Menorah. A vote by members to agree to progress with talks was approved at the last AGM in May. Final agreement will require another vote and at a subsequent EGM.
Rabbi Robyn said “The conversations, which are beginning, about joining together in a more intentional way, are so exciting. We have so much potential in Manchester in creating a strong, visible and proud progressive Jewish community, which attends to the needs of our diverse number of members. Joining resources, places, leaders and skills means the future is so bright.”
