DESCRIPTION:The 20th UK International Jewish Film Festival will run in Manchester from the 6th – 20th November with films at HOME and Cineworld Didsbury. We are bringing you 12 screenings of highly anticipated and specially selected films to Manchester. \nFilms include The Origin of Violence – a family drama about a young French teacher whose life is changed when he stumbles upon a picture of a Jewish prisoner in Buchenwald concentration camp who bears a striking resemblance to his father. Also there is the Argentinian film The Tenth Man – about a young businessman in New York who returns to his native Buenos Aires and unexpectedly falls for a local Orthodox woman. The go minute war – is a mockumentary which attempts to settle the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a football match. \nFilm website: http://ukjewishfilm.org/manchester/

DESCRIPTION:Come join us for another installment of Torah on Tap – the Reform pub-based social and study event. Thursday 17th September at 7pm. The Crown & Kettle Pub\, 2 Oldham Rd\, Manchester M4 5FE. \nHosted by Robyn Ashworth-Steen and following the US Elections we’ll be delving into the murky world of leadership. Is leadership inherently tragic?  Do we expect acts of integrity from our leaders at all times? We’ll be studying the tragic and epic story of King Saul and King David to start to explore some of these questions and use them as a springboard to critique modern leadership. \nAll welcome and no skills needed – apart from enthusiasm and a love of a good story!  Please note: the event will be held in our own separate function room ‘The Snug’\, not in the main pub room. \nAny questions please contact the Synagogue Office.

DESCRIPTION:Bring your Craft\, show and tell\, or do\, or even “just socialise” for a couple of hours. \nThere will be a small exhibition of gold work embroidery\, canvas work – please feel free to bring your own work to exhibit if you wish. You can try your hand on a spinning wheel and or watch me spin seaweed\, banana\, hemp or rose fibre and of course sheep fleece and alpaca. \nIf you wish to attend\, please let the office know.
